We live in an era where we are less and less connected to how our food is processed and transported and who is growing or preparing it. We need more conversations about what is happening in our current food system to enable us to start the journey in improving connections and understanding of how we can build a more sustainable and local food system.
The Paddock to Plate and Waste (PPW) project is designed to do just that, to be a first step in having families, students and teachers come together and start the conversation: “what is happening and how can we improve it”
The PPW project is a resource pack with lesson plans that include watching and discussing a short video then finishes with creating a poster that will be displayed in a Community Exhibition. The exhibition will help to celebrate and encourage connection and showcase student work. The project encourages creative expression and will benefit students in improving their understanding of our current food system as seen through their eyes and that of their peers. It will also build their knowledge on how they can make a difference, big or small, for a more sustainable local food system.
Don’t let your class or school miss out, the exhibition will be around September – November 2023 and there are prizes and incentives to the value of $3700
